Dermaplaning Facial in Baton Rouge

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive superficial skin exfoliating treatment where a surgical grade blade is used to remove the top layer of the skin, and fine facial hair (peach fuzz). The results? Increased cell turnover and brighter, smoother, "newer" looking skin.

After dermaplaning, your products will absorb better, makeup will go on smoother, and you'll notice a radiance that stays with you for weeks.

We follow up this treatment with a soothing mask and other hydrating products that are best suited for your skin.

NOTE: We know you've probably seen a million DIY videos for dermaplaning, but friends.. please. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! This requires the use of a precision scalpel and a technique that requires proper training.

What Is Dermaplaning?

No, Dermaplaning does not make your facial hair grow back thicker, darker or coarser.

Your hair follicles live deep beneath the surface of the skin, inside the dermal layer. Dermaplaning is entirely superficial; the blade only slices the dead shaft of the hair right at the surface line.

It never touches, alters, or communicates with the actual root or follicle that controls growth, color, and thickness.

This is an old wives tale, but we totally get the concern! You've got nothing to worry about in this department.

Process & Timing

We've got two options - a full dermaplane facial that lasts 45 minutes and an express treatment we do in 30 minutes.

Our dermaplane facial includes a mask post exfoliation and the application of products. Express does not include a mask.

Downtime

There is no downtime with dermaplaning. You might have a little pinkness for 1-2 hours, but you're good to resume all of your regular activities and attend events as planned!

Aftercare

Get sunscreen on your face immediately, and avoid sweating, the gym, your retinol or tretinoin, and vitamin C for 48 hours.

If you can, avoid applying any heavy foundation for the first 24 hours, as well.

Yes, Dermaplaning is very safe when done by a professional using a surgical grade scalpel.

We do recommend holding off if you have:

  • An active acne breakout
  • Active cold sores or other open wounds
  • Recently gotten a chemical peel or laser treatment
  • Sunburned skin
  • Been taking blood thinners regularly

FAQ

How often should I get dermaplaning?

For the best results, it is recommended to get professionally dermaplaned every 4 weeks. This schedule perfectly matches your skin's natural 30-day cellular renewal cycle, ensuring your complexion stays continuously bright, smooth, and free of peach fuzz.

Dermaplaning vs. Microdermabrasion - what's the difference?

The main difference between dermaplaning and microdermabrasion is the method of exfoliation and the removal of facial hair. Dermaplaning uses a manual surgical blade to gently scrape away dead skin cells and remove fine peach fuzz (vellus hair). Microdermabrasion uses a mechanical device with a diamond tip or crystal vacuum to pull oil and debris from the pores and buff away dead skin, but it cannot remove facial hair. These treatments should not be done together as to not overly exfoliate the skin barrier.

What's the difference between dermaplaning and shaving?

The main difference between professional dermaplaning and shaving is the depth of skin exfoliation and the quality of the blade used. Dermaplaning uses a medical-grade surgical scalpel to deeply exfoliate weeks of dead skin cells alongside peach fuzz. Shaving only cuts the hair and offers minimal to no skin exfoliation.

How much does a dermaplaning facial cost?

An express dermaplaning treatment (just the dermaplane + product application) usually costs around $75. A full dermaplaning facial is usually around $110-130. We charge $60 for our express treatment, and $90 for the full facial.
